Johns Hopkins lacrosse is pulling no punches, including the hidden ball trick, against Virginia.

Johns Hopkins was the underdog going into their quarterfinal matchup against Virginia in the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament. In that underdog role, the team had to be ready to pull every trick they had out. Apparently that meant it was time to unleash the vaunted hidden ball trick.

Already having amassed an 11-1 lead in the first half, junior attacker Ryan Brown and senior attacker Wells Stanwick weren’t about to let up. That’s when they blessed the world with this play:

If you lost the ball in that exchange, you’re not alone as the Virginia goalie might as well have been tying his shoe on the play. This Vine gives a better look at what actually happened with the ball:

You know you’re doing the hidden ball trick right when the goalie and cameraman can’t keep track of where the pill is.

Honestly, seeing plays like this only fuels the desire for more like it. Let’s get more hidden ball tricks in baseball. Let’s see inbound passes of the back in basketball. Break out the Statue of Liberty play on the gridiron. Then again, if that’s all we’re seeing, highlights like this one wouldn’t be as special.
