After being teammates for eight years, former New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada doesn’t believe Alex Rodriguez deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.

Jorge Posada retired four years ago as one of the best catches in New York Yankees history and someone who everyone seemed to love. The man behind home plate served the organization for 17 years and became one of the best hitting catchers in baseball history.

The organization regards him so highly, in fact, that he was on hand for both Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter’s retirement in their last career home games.

You won’t meet a catcher more beloved by his fan base than Posada was by the Yankees — for the most part — and teammates seemed to love and flock to him. However, there’s one teammate that won’t be sending him a Christmas card anytime soon and that is Alex Rodriguez.

The veteran slugger has been involved in some PED scandals for the past few years and a former associate with A-Rod had even come out, saying that he had personally injected him with steroids before games.

This became a black eye for baseball, as well as the New York Yankees.

During A-Rod’s historic home run chase this year, the organization that he has called home for the past 12 years has refused to promote his passing of Willie Mays on the all-time HR list, nor will they congratulate him publicly.

Posada is another guy that seems to be a bit anti-A-Rod lately.

I mean, it’s a pretty fair statement because most people around the game today believe the same thing. It’s only a big deal because A-Rod and Posada were teammates for eight seasons in New York and spend countless hours together perfecting their game. Heck, they even won a World Series together in 2009.

This is going to be a debate that rages on far beyond Posada’s opinion. Many believe Rodriguez doesn’t deserve to be in the Hall, even with his career-.300 average and 662 total homers.

Performance-enhancing drugs have ruined part of the game that we love and that is the innocence of it. Guys like Rodriguez have taken advantage of the system and cheated it in a way they saw fit.

Posada may have been his teammate for almost a decade, but he’s right.
