The Cleveland Cavaliers won a dramatic Game 5 against the Chicago Bulls, but Kendrick Perkins has some explaining to do after police were called over an argument he had with his wife.

Kendrick Perkins and his wife were involved in a domestic despite that required police assistance after a witness called 911 to report fighting between a man and a woman.

According to a 911 call that NEOMG obtained this morning, officers were called after a witness reported a couple fighting inside of an SUV near Westlake. When officers arrived, they found Perkins and his wife sitting in the back of the SUV but the fighting had subsided and there were no visible marks on either of them to suggest violence played a role in the argument.

Still, this is a bad look for Perkins as he’s known as an enforcer on the court which naturally makes people believe he’s that way away from the game. That’s unfair to Perkins, but it’s easy to see how some may be able to connect the dots even if they aren’t there with an incident like this.

Thankfully, no one was arrested and it appears that this was nothing more than an argument. If there was abuse of any kind though, that instantly sours Perkins in the eyes of everyone and it’s a damper on the Cavaliers run to the NBA Finals. Perkins isn’t a key cog in the championship wheel but he’s a cog nonetheless and Cavaliers fans want guys they can root for.

The culture in sports at the moment is one that doesn’t stand for domestic abuse of any kind, as anything from a poorly timed playoff skit that parodies abuse to being just vaguely connected to murder case can get you fired or hurt your job status.

Kendrick Perkins has done nothing wrong so far, and he’d better hope that it satays that way for more than just the sake of his basketball career.
