Is there a better person to ask about this subject than Chris Webber?

During Game 5 of the Bulls vs Cavaliers on Tuesday night, there was a moment between Marv Albert and Chris Webber that a lot of people were probably hoping they’d see. Yes, Webber as Albert discussed the infamous phantom timeout call.

With time winding down in the Game 4 Cavaliers win, David Blatt nearly ruined it all for his team, as he tried to call a timeout that he didn’t have. Were he not pulled back by assistant coach Tyronn Lue and the referees saw him attempting to grab some time that he didn’t have, a technical would have been assessed and the Cavs may not have walked away with the win.

Now, as any longtime sports fan will remember, back in the 1993 national championship game against North Carolina, Webber was not so fortunate when he was part of the Fab 5 for Michigan. His phantom call WAS seen by the refs and the Wolverines lost out on the national title.

So, this was the moment that everyone was waiting for, and kudos to Webber for taking it all in stride.

Webber rarely ever talks about that moment from 1993, but with what happened in Game 4 between the Bulls and Cavs, it was near impossible to ignore.
