The Dallas Cowboys had their annual golf outing on Wednesday, in appreciation for their sponsors, and Greg Hardy was one of the players on hand. Of course, he didn’t talk to reporters in an interview capacity, only making small talk with those gathered near the sidelines. On the other hand, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had plenty to say about Hardy.

“Well I know this, he comes to work,” Jones said, via Dallas News. “He was out here at 7 this morning teeing off. He fired me up. He’s ready to go at all hours. I’m excited about his zest. It’s contagious.”

Jones added that Hardy has been helping the other players work harder and that’s what they expect from him. He also called Hardy a leader, which sounds a little funny since there were recent reports of Hardy getting into an altercation due to a teammate calling him a “woman beater.”

Last month, Hardy was suspended by the NFL for those exact reasons after an investigation showed that he did indeed get into a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend last year. Hardy was suspended for 10 games, but the NFLPA is currently working to appeal the suspension. Despite the suspension, Hardy is still being allowed to work out with his teammates at the Cowboy’s Valley Ranch training facility. He will also be allowed to attend training camp and play in preseason games.

Stephen Jones, the Cowboys executive vice president, also agrees with Jerry Jones, saying that Hardy is having a great offseason. He randomly mentions Hardy’s off-the-field issues as more like things that might affect his focus, not as anything that might show up again at any point during his time with the Cowboys.

The praise was echoed by cornerback Brandon Carr, who called Hardy an “animal”, presumably referring to his play on the field. He added that Hardy is giving his all every day in practice, which he admires.

Since signing with the Cowboys, Hardy has obviously been suspended from earlier problems, but he also has been in an altercation with teammates and posted an insensitive tweet about the 9/11 attacks. So he hasn’t exactly kept his nose clean. However, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett says that whenever he’s had to talk to Hardy about things, he’s handled it like a pro.
