3 Starting Pitcher Sleepers

1. Wandy Rodriguez-Texas Rangers: Rodriguez has been surprisingly good for the Rangers and turned in really nice numbers in his last two starts.  He takes on Bruce Chen in what should be a very winnable matchup tonight in Arlington although he will have to deal with the Indians lineup. Rodriguez has allowed exactly one earned run in three of his four starts.  In his last two outings, he has given up a total of five hits and two runs in 14 innings while striking out 14 agains the Astros and Rays.  If he can keep that going, he’s worth grabbing at least in the short term in the over 75 % of ESPN leagues where he is on the waiver wire

2. David Phelps-Miami Marlins: As the Marlins host the Braves, Phelps is worth a look coming in with a 2.90 ERA and a solid 2-0 record.  He has started five games after starting the season in the bullpen and has turned in quality starts in each of his last four outings.  Phelps still is getting stretched out, so he may not go extremely deep into the game, but he has been cruising right along since moving to the rotation and should be considered as a streaming or value play tonight.

3. Chris Y0ung-Kansas City Royals: Another pitcher moving from the bullpen to the rotation successfully lately, Chris Young is in a tough matchup tonight against the Yankees, but his two starts so far this season have been wildly successful. Both those outings came against the Tigers who he limited to a total of one run (and it was unearned) on three hits in 11 innings while striking out 12.  He’s only owned in 21.8% of ESPN leagues and is still extremely risky, but he’s worth a speculative play tonight if you need a cheap starting pitcher or a waiver wire add.
