3 Starting Pitcher Stay-Aways

1. Andrew Cashner-San Diego Padres: Cashner has actually pitched much better than his 1-6 record indicates allowing two earned runs or fewer in five of his seven starts and going six innings in each of those outings.  He’s had horrible luck with run support, and tonight as he takes on Max Scherzer that probably won’t change.  I’d avoid Cashner tonight against a heating up Nationals lineup in daily leagues, but if you own him in season-long leagues he should still be able to give you solid innings.

2. Danny Duffy-Kansas City Royals: Duffy had been a reliable streaming option and solid contributor at times this season, but he’s been knocked around lately allowing a total of ten runs in his last two starts against the Indians and Rangers.  He’ll be on the mound at home tonight against the Yankees looking to bounce back, but I’d suggest waiting before buying back in on Duffy.

3. Mat Latos-Miami Marlins: Although Latos has turned things around lately, the Braves were the team that dealt him a lot of the punishment he received early in the season. In two starts against them, Latos allowed nine runs on 11 hits and five walks while lasting just 4.2 innings.  He definitely has improved a lot since then, but I’d still be cautious with Latos this afternoon as Atlanta tries to give him flashbacks to his first Marlins starts.
