Iman Shumpert shows no mercy, calls out reporter on Twitter
Fed up with what one Cavs’ beat reporter has been saying to the Cleveland fans, Iman Shumpert took to Twitter to call him out, showing no mercy.
It can’t be too easy being a professional athlete when it comes to dealing with the media and crazed fans on a daily basis, but I guess the millions of dollars every year are worth it. Iman Shumpert has been fed up with one Cleveland Cavaliers beat reporter.
The Cavaliers are in the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since LeBron James’ first stint with the team from 2003-10. Despite making it this far, there are reports that have come out about head coach David Blatt getting fired no matter how the team finishes — rumors were courtesy of Ric Bucher.
Shumpert was acquired mid-season in a trade that also sent J.R. Smith to the Cavs and the team basically got him for nothing. Cleveland has been benefitting from his solid play for the last few months and he has been red-hot in the playoffs thus far.
Apparently, not everyone in the media has been so positive despite the Cavs’ first deep playoff run in half a decade.
The newest Cavalier has been so fed up with Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer that he took to Twitter to call out the verified beat writer.
It seems like Haynes has been spewing some negative words regarding the Cavs and Shumpert has had enough. It’s not often you see a professional athlete call out a member of the media by tweeting directly at them, but that’s just how strongly Shumpert feels about the beat reporter.
The fourth-year player out of Georgia Tech has absolutely caught fire in the 2015 NBA Playoffs, averaging 10.4 points and 4.9 rebounds — both more than his season average.
Cleveland has been putting a hurt on opponents thus far this postseason, but Shumpert isn’t quite happy with the atmosphere surrounding the locker room — the media, for instance. While this kind of thing is rare to see, it’s nice for a guy like Iman to stand up for his teammates, coaches and fan base when it comes to constant negative reporting.
Not sure what has been said to ignite these words, but the NBA star feels strongly about them.
