Kevin Garnett once got so hyped up while watching “Making the Band” that he head butted a hole through a wall in his house.

God love Kevin Garnett. Dude hits the court snarling like a rabid dog, jaws at anyone and everyone within  earshot, and attacks each game with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind. He doesn’t talk to rookies, and started the trend of tipping a basketball away from the basketball when other players shoot during dead balls. Basically, he’s a supercharged mental assassin who feasts on mental midgets.

As it turns out, the KG we see on the hardwood isn’t too far off from the guy off if it.

In an all-encompassing oral history of Garnett, Howard Beck broke down seemingly every facet of The Big Ticket’s life – from workout routines, to prep school, to his there-and-back journey with Minnesota and all parts in between. It’s an engaging read which also (gloriously) touches on KG’s “quirks, habits and virtues.”

As you can imagine, the soundbites are terrific. According to Paul Pierce, Garnett eats a peanut butter and jelly sandwich before every game. Even better: he makes ball boys fix sandwiches for the entire team.

The best tale, however, comes from former NBA point guard Tyronn Lue. Apparently one time some guys were hanging out at KG’s house watching Diddy’s MTV opus Making the Band, when Garnett got so hyped up that he head butted a wall.

"Tyronn Lue: A lot of people do all their howling on the court and they’re faking just for attention, but what he does is genuine. So one day we were at his house and we were watching Puff Daddy’s show ‘Making the Band,’ and in one of the scenes, some new guys came in and were trying to sing and were trying to compete against the guys who had been there. And KG just got so hyped, ‘Motherf—-r, you’ve got to stand up for yours! You’ve got to fight! Motherf—-r, you’ve got to come together!’ He’s going crazy, he’s sweaty. And he just head butts the wall and put a hole in the wall of his house."

No confirmation, but just going to go out on a limb and say this is the moment that sent KG’s dome right through the drywall.

Kevin Garnett is officially a man with no off switch. And that head butting incident has to be the one of the most intense moments in Making the Band history – second only to that time Wyclef creeped on Dylan.
