Stephen A. Smith compares Tom Brady to Aaron Hernandez
By Mike Dyce
ESPN’s First Take analyst Stephen A. Smith compared New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to Aaron Hernandez, then said he wasn’t comparing the two.
The New England Patriots continue to drag on there Deflategate scandal in the wake of Tom Brady’s suspension and punishments handed down to the team. Owner Robert Kraft went so far as to say that the NFL has been unfair to the Patriots.
That likely only made the rest of the league laugh, since many think NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s relationship with Kraft has given the Patriots an understanding not afforded to the rest of the league.
Remember when Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman brought it up ahead of their Super Bowl match up? Sherman said he felt like Goodell and Kraft’s friendship would get Brady some leniency.
Well anyways, Kraft has come out and said that he feels like Tom Brady never lied to him about the Deflategate scandal. Brady said he was innocent ahead of the Super Bowl, but the Wells Report made it pretty clear that he must have had some knowledge of what was going on.
With something as polarizing as this, you knew ESPN’s First Take would be all over it. Stephen A. Smith had some interesting things to say, like say comparing Brady to convicted murder and former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez on this tactic.
“Very uncomfortable to say, but it needs to be said. Aaron Hernandez told Robert Kraft he was innocent too,” Smith said.
Smith then backtracked.
“I’m not comparing Tom Brady to Aaron Hernandez. Please don’t take that the wrong way,” Smith said.
Smith is really in rare form today.
