Angels outfielder Matt Joyce was pulled from a game against the Toronto Blue Jays after forgetting when the game started.

At the major league level it’s probably a good idea to show up to the ballpark several hours ahead of time to get work in.

Angels outfielder Matt Joyce is already walking a very thin line with a .143 average. On the day he was penciled into the lineup, Joyce forgot when the game started and as a result of his tardiness, he was pulled from the game by manager Mike Scioscia.

How do you forget when the game starts? Especially when you’re on the road and your teammates are all heading out around the same time.

Well Joyce thought it was a night game when it really was a day game. On the bright side, he ended up showing up during batting practice, which is much better than say the fourth or fifth inning.

Afterward, Joyce was very remorseful for his actions.

It sounds like it was a simple mistake, and Joyce obviously feels terrible, especially when he knows he needs every chance he can get to stay at the major league level when he is only batting .143.

Scioscia did the right thing by pulling him and letting other players know that type of behavior won’t be tolerated.

It was an accident, and hopefully for Joyce he can get in the lineup soon and raise that average so he doesn’t get put on waivers.

He might also want to put one of those schedule magnets they give out on Opening Day on his refrigerator.
