NBA Draft Lottery 2015: Who will be No. 1 pick?
With the NBA Draft Lottery officially concluded and the Minnesota Timberwolves snagging the no. 1 overall pick, who will they select?
The 2015 NBA Draft Lottery is over and the Minnesota Timbewolves have won. Now the only question is: Who will they select number 1 overall?
The 2015 NBA Draft is littered with big men. In a draft where Frank Kaminsky might drop all the way to no. 20, things are definitely forward and center heavy. The two best big men are Karl-Anthony Towns and Jahlil Okafor and not necessarily in that order. Both have tremendous upsides and questionable downsides, so it’s going to come down to who the Timberwolves are going to want to select to fill their needs
Many people think that Karl-Anthony Towns is the best option for the no. 1 overall pick no matter who you are. His shear size is enough to be intimidated, but then when you factor in his defensive upside and low post game, what’s not to love about Karl-Anthony Towns? Well, it might not be anything he hasn’t done. He was arguably the best all-around center in college basketball last year. But the fact that Jahlil Okafor is so good on the offensive end makes people question whether or not the Timberwolves will take Towns first overall.

Jahlil Okafor can basically score at will if he is in the paint guarded by only one defender. His size is just the beginning to his game. Okafor has a rare control over his body, that most big guys don’t have even at the professional level. He is going to be an immediate impact player wherever he ends up on the offensive end. So now it’s just up to the Timberwolves and what they want in their big guy for next year.
The Wolves’ have enough guards to go around who can score pretty well. It doesn’t seem like they have an immediate need for another scorer. Then again, more offense never hurt anybody. Besides, they have already have a big guy who is more of a utility man than a scorer in Nikola Pekovic. So why not take Jahlil Okafor 1st overall?
The fact of the matter is, Towns isn’t going to be a chump on the offensive end. He will do just fine on the offensive end, which makes Okafor’s use less valuable, especially if Towns will be a better defender and rebounder. If I were the Timberwovles I would select Karl-Anthony Towns 1st overall. A player who can do just about everything on the low post doesn’t come around too often. And I believe Towns is this type of guy.
