The Atlanta Hawks are asking fans to “Dress Like Sager” for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Atlanta Hawks have the biggest series in the recent history of their franchise starting on Wednesday night with Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. They’re getting the party started in possibly the most amazing way they could.

Hawks fans attending Game 1 are being encouraged to dress like legendary sideline announcer Craig Sager:

If enough fans participate in the creative theme for the evening, that’s going to make for some of the best NBA images in quite a while. Who wouldn’t love the backdrop of a crowd in absurd, flamboyant suits in every photo?

Sager is famous both for his wardrobe and prowess with a microphone on the sidelines, but the basketball community has been left missing him for a while now. After returning briefly in March after a battle with cancer, the Sager family announced that the cancer had returned and another battle was ahead for the broadcaster.

This is a great way for the Hawks to have some fun and to honor one of the legends from around the league. Whether it’s by wearing a suit in Atlanta for Game 1 or just sending thoughts to the Sager family, I think all fans can say that we wish the best for Sager and hope to see him back on the sidelines soon.
