Daily Fantasy Baseball: Late FanDuel Picks for May 20

Daily Fantasy Baseball: Late FanDuel Picks for May 20

There are 14 games in the evening slate on FanDuel. Here are my best “Value” selections for FanDuel lineups in the May 20 contests:

Tsuyoshi Wada (CHC) at SD for $6,200: The veteran 34 year-old former Japanese League star is making his 2015 début tonight against the Padres. Wada (4-4, 3.25 ERA, 1.24 WHIP in 13 starts for the Cubs in 2014) has posted a 2.86 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 29:10 K/BB in 6 rehab starts with AAA Iowa this season. Wada, whose nickname is “Mr. K”, is a capable professional who can produce in the majors, using a deceptive arm swing and late release point that creates challenges for hitters. Add in the Petco factor (game run line is 6.5)  and you have to consider using Wada at the extremely affordable price tag of $6,200.

SS Danny Santana (MIN) at PIT (Locke) for $2,800: Santana is hitting much better after a slow start to 2015, reaching base safely in his last 8 games while hitting (.344, 11 for 32) in that span. Facing the left-hander Locke (5.40 ERA, 1.45 WHIP in 7 starts), the switch-hitting Santana will be batting RH which has been his strong side so far this season where he’s .283 in 46 AB. Plus, Santana has moved back up to the top of the Twins order and is available at a cheap price.

OF Andre Ethier (LAD) at SF (Lincecum) for $2,900: Either (2.5 FPPG) has hit his way out of a platoon situation, going .313 w/ 5 HR and 15 BB in 99 ABs to take over regular RF duties for the Dodgers. He has a decent sample size (53 ABs) vs. Lincecum going .264 with 2 HRs, 6 BB, and a 1 SB. Take advantage of this Lefty/Righty matchup tonight as it is rare to get this kind of average and power at under $3000 in FanDuel.

OF Shin-Soo Choo (TEX) at BOS (Kelly) for $3,400: Choo has been very hot, hitting 26 for 44 (.363) & averaging 3.75 FPPG in his last 10 games. He has a small but good history vs. Joe Kelly (3 for 6, HR) and loves to hit in Fenway with a .333 BA, .538 SLG, and .973 OPS in 92 career PAs. With Choo leading off for the Rangers and a good L/R matchup in a hitter’s park, he is a steal for $3400.
