Report: No chance Isiah Thomas returns to the Knicks
At their lowest point, the New York Knicks will not be turning back to the abyss by hiring back Isiah Thomas.
Madison Square Garden is basically like the Somme in 1916 at this point. I’m pretty sure bearing witness to Lou Amundson is the basketball equivalent of a dying horse shrieking while sinking deeper into the mud.
Pair that with the New York Knicks’ misfortune of tumbling all the way down to fourth in the NBA Draft lottery, and the team is down right now. Let’s not harm them even further with talks of an Isiah Thomas return.
Thomas’ fellow Bad Boy Detroit Piston/sore competitor/enemy of mankind Bill Laimbeer illuminated Isiah Thomas’ mindset regarding the Knicks in limbo.
Yeah … I don’t think they’re gonna come calling, bud.
Thomas ran the Knicks as president, and much like that dying horse at the Somme, he ran them into the ground.

Thomas hiked up the Knicks’ payroll, committing bloated contracts to players like Jared Jeffries, Jerome James and Eddy Curry while jettisoning his higher draft picks. The Knicks fell into the NBA ravine; they were terrible and unable to improve.
Thomas took over as coach and didn’t fare much better. He was 56-108 before being finally terminated following the 2008 season.
Laimbeer is currently the head coach of the WNBA’s New York Liberty, a team that is run by none other than Isiah Thomas. Fans at MSG thinking they saw the Ghost of Failure are actually seeing the president of the New York Liberty.
The Phil Jackson experiment hasn’t fully taken off, and it is clear that Derek Fisher isn’t working right now as an NBA coach. But turning to Isiah Thomas is not the solution in New York. James Dolan probably knows this, right?
… Right?
