Madison Bumgarner hits home run off Clayton Kershaw
By Mike Dyce
San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner hits a home run off of Clayton Kershaw.
There are those that want to get the National League to embrace the Designated Hitter, and keep pitchers from going up to bat at the plate. They’re usually not great hitters and they get stuck at the bottom of the batting order.
Remember, Babe Ruth was a pitcher.
You would also lose intriguing match ups like when two ace pitchers are batting against one another. For instance, San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner stepped up to the plate against Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw.
Then sometimes magical things like this happen.
That’s right, Bumgarner took Kershaw yard for a home run. This is a man who has won three NL Cy Young Awards, given to the best pitcher in the league. He also won the National League MVP in 2014, he was THAT dominant.
Kershaw is in his eighth season and in the previous seven seasons he had given up jut 82 home runs, so taking him deep isn’t an easy task. It also gave the Giants a lead in the game, breaking what was then a scoreless tie.
