Former Wisconsin Badgers star and future NBA first round pick Frank Kaminsky wrote a touching farewell to the town of his college days.

Frank Kaminsky is done at the University of Wisconsin as a player forever, but even as he departs for greener pastures, he will never forget those great times or those great Badger fans.

The former Badgers star center posted an emotional goodbye on his post, thanking the town of Madison and the University of Wisconsin and reflecting on his time there.

From The Moose Basketball:

"To be honest, I have been putting off writing this blog for a while now. Writing this blog means that my time at Wisconsin has come to an end, and I am now officially reflecting on the past. Thinking about what to write here is difficult because there is so much to say, but at the same time it makes me sad. First and foremost, I have never loved being a part of something as much as I loved being a student-athlete at the greatest university in the world. Thinking about the future is scary, but I know that I am now ready for it. However this is not a blog about my future. This is a blog to say thank you and goodbye to the best thing I have ever known."

With the exception of the championship 1941 team, Kaminsky was a part of what was arguably the best Wisconsin basketball team in school history. The Badgers came up one game short of winning the title this past March, having defeated the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats in the Final Four before eventually falling to the Duke Blue Devils in the tournament final.

Looking forward, the Badgers will be without Kaminsky, as well as his fellow gangly shooter Sam Dekker; both will be entering the NBA draft. As an NBA prospect, Kaminsky’s ceiling is not the highest. However, it’s hard to imagine a 7-footer who can shoot long range jumpers and hit the boards not find a way to contributing on an NBA roster.

Then again, unless he develops in unforeseen ways, it seems Frank Kaminsky’s days as his team’s focal point are over. Godspeed, moose man, and fare thee well.
