The NBA Finals could be moved up if both conference finals end in a sweep.

The conference finals in the NBA playoffs has been a lopsided affair so far. The Golden State Warriors lead the Houston Rockets three games to none. The Cleveland Cavaliers lead the Atlanta Hawks two games to none heading back to Ohio.

It looks like both series could end in a sweep.

If both conference finals ended in a sweep, there would be considerable delay until the NBA Finals actually began. Now there is a report from Tim Kawakami that the NBA is considering moving up the NBA Finals if that were to occur.

It is an interesting proposition, moving up the finals. Surely the Golden State Warriors would be in favor of it. Not only would their series end first, giving them an extra day of rest, but they’re considerably healthier than the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers would have to absolutely be against the Finals moving up, considering how banged up they are. LeBron James was the lone remaining member of their Big Three in Game Two.

Kevin Love is out for the post season after Boston Celtics big man Kelly Olynyk tried to rip his arm off. Kyrie Irving is banged up all over the place, primarily dealing with a strained right foot and tendinitis in his left knee.

The Cavaliers would presumably prefer to get the sweep and not move up the start of the NBA finals so they can rest.
