Real Madrid have decided to part ways with manager Carlo Ancelotti after a very disappointing season for the Spanish giants
Carlo Ancelotti has been fired by Real Madrid after failing to secure a major trophy in what can only be considered as a disappointing season.
Real Madrid were in contention to do the double by winning the Champions League and La Liga, but a series of poor performances ended that dream and as a result the Italian manager is out of a job. Some might find it harsh to lose your job one year after winning the Champions League, but that’s the kind of pressure a club like Real Madrid pile on their employees.
The fact that they lost out on the league title to rivals Barcelona rubs further salt in the wounds of Real Madrid supporters, something that added to the stress their manager was under. There was talk of a crisis at the club half way through the season but some stellar performances turned that around, or so it seemed.
The final nail in Ancelotti’s coffin was the exit from this year’s Champions League. Real Madrid were on the verge of making history by being the only club to retain the trophy in it’s current format. Unfortunately for everyone involved with the club however, they were bested by high flying Italian side Juventus at the semi final stage.
There are some reports linking Ancelotti with a move to Manchester City, a club that are all but certain to part ways with their current manager Manuel Pellegrini. The burning question for most people regards the now vacant job at Real Madrid, with a number of managers being linked with the high profile position.
It’s never nice when a manager loses his job, but that’s the danger when you take a position at what is arguably the biggest club in the world. The Italian has a resume that’s hard to beat, so it won’t be too long before he gets another offer I’m sure.
