A look at when we can all begin watching Hard Knocks this year with the Houston Texans

Wednesday morning the news began to leak that the latest edition of Hard Knocks on HBO this season will feature none other than head coach Bill O’Brien and the Houston Texans, in what is sure to be one of the best editions of the series yet.

Later on in the day on Wednesday the team formally announced the news, as well as the start time for the show this season. Via the official press release from the NFL, Hard Knocks with the Houston Texans will begin airing on Tuesday, August 11 at 10:00 p.m. ET.

"HBO Sports, NFL Films and the Houston Texans team up for an all-access look at what it takes to make it in the National Football League when HARD KNOCKS: TRAINING CAMP WITH THE HOUSTON TEXANS debuts in August. The first sports-based reality series – and one of the fastest-turnaround programs on TV – kicks off its five-episode tenth season TUESDAY, AUG. 11 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO."

Once again this year there were a few teams that turned down the offer from HBO, not wanting the distraction around their camp. That said, there were a lot of people when the news was announced that wondered how O’Brien let this happen, given that he’s more reserved when it comes to the handling of his football teams. However, in the announcement it was noted by general manager Rick Smith that there will not be any competitive advantages given out.

So, for the most part, it sort of seems that O’Brien had to be talked into the venture, and it was successful.

There are a lot of intriguing things that we’re going to get to see play out when the series begins in August, including watching the best defensive player in the NFL, J.J. Watt, doing his work on the field, Jadeveon Clowney making his comeback from a knee injury suffered last season and the progression of quarterback Ryan Mallett. The Texans acquired Mallett from the Patriots last season, and we’ll see this year if he can be the franchise QB that O’Brien has been looking for.

We’ll see all this and so much more, and it all begins on August 11.
