Terry Larrier, once a top 50 recruit, is leaving VCU to play for Kevin Ollie at UConn after just one season.

The UConn Huskies went from National Champions to NIT first-round losers in a span of just a year. The Huskies had one of the most disappointing seasons in 2014-15, and part of the reason why is head coach Kevin Ollie lacking the recruiting presence that his predecessor, Jim Calhoun, had.

It seems that problem could begin to be resolved itself as Ollie has landed a number of recruits and transfers this off season to fill the three available scholarships. VCU freshman and former top 50 recruit, Terry Larrier, is transferring to UConn to play for Ollie.

The freshman averaged just under seven points per game last year for VCU, but showed immense amounts of potential because of his athleticism and size at 6-foot-8 and 175 pounds. To prove this point, here is a little taste of what might be in store for Huskies fans next season.

For UConn, Larrier can serve as a swing guard or small forward. He has the ability to shoot the long ball but is better in transition situations. His large frame and superior athleticism give him the ability to get in passing lanes and create turnovers, allowing for his teammates to be more successful in a team-oriented style of defense that Ollie likes to run at UConn.

So it looks like Ollie might be getting his team back on track this offseason after landing Larrier in the transfer market. The Huskies had one of the worst seasons ever for a defending national championship team. Landing transfers like Larrier is the first step in rebuilding the great basketball tradition that once existed at UConn.
