The Chicago Blackhawks wasted no time in getting a lead in Game 7, scoring less than three minutes in.

The Chicago Blackhawks are quietly becoming a dynasty in the NHL. They’ve won two Stanley Cups in the last four years and are going for their third in five this postseason. The only thing that stands in their way is yet another team team California, as the Los Angeles Kings have ended the Blackhawks on the West Coast before.

This time around it’s the Anaheim Ducks, a team that equally hates the Kings but also has the goal of bouncing the Blackhawks in similar fashion. That’s going to require at least two goals now, as the Blackhawks used a Jonathan Toews goal to take a 1-0 lead in the first period.

Judging from the way this series has gone so far, one goal is not going to be enough to end things. Each goalie has given up 18 goals, and at least four of those came within two minutes of one another. That’s just the way things have gone for the Blackhawks and Ducks in the Conference Finals, but the bottom line is that the series is down to this final game and there’s no room for error.

There’s also plenty of room for more goals.

UPDATE:

More goals were indeed had. Jonathan Toews added another goal before the first period was through, giving the Blackhawks a 2-0 lead.
