Former teammates embrace after Lightning vs Rangers (GIF)
There were many former teammates facing off against each other as the Tampa Bay Lightning took on the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have defeated the New York Rangers and will advance to the Stanley Cup Finals.
After the game, as is tradition at the end of series in the playoffs, the two teams had a handshake line.
With the Lightning and Rangers having a lots of former teammates square off each other, there was a lot of respect given in the handshake line between the two teams.
The first was Lightning Goalie and Rangers forward Martin St. Louis. St. Louis spent many years in Tampa Bay, and was a key member of the first Lightning team that won a Stanley Cup.
Then former Rangers captain Ryan Callahan embraced with St. Louis.
It’s always tough to see a hockey team get eliminated and have to go through the handshake line, especially after a series goes to seven games.
However, the great show of respect from both teams makes it easy to root for both of them as players from each side have played with one another and have the ultimate respect for the men they just did battle with.
There’s no better show of respect in sports than the handshake line, and these two teams have a great deal of it for each other.
