Fox Sports writer and insider Jay Glazer commented on LeSean McCoy’s comments about Chip Kelly’s supposed racism.

On Thursday, Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Malcolm Jenkins came to the aid of his coach Chip Kelly after accusations of Kelly’s racism were brought up again at Eagles OTAs. Kelly was called a racist by his former running back LeSean McCoy after he traded McCoy for linebacker Kiko Alonso. McCoy pointed to the smoking gun of not having DeSean Jackson on the team as evidence of racial bias, whereas Jenkins has the benefit of being inside the locker room.

From Pro Football Talk:

"I don’t think anybody in the locker room now thinks we have an issue with race. I don’t see that being a problem in the future. I don’t think there’s any need for Chip to address it.”"

Can’t we all just talk about stuff that’s important, like Sam Bradford’s knee?

Jenkins comments inspired something in Fox Sports insider and faberge egg Jay Glazer, who felt the need to add to what Jenkins had to say but in less gentle ways.

Full Text:

"I’m sorry man but you just don’t flippantly accuse people of this, I think it’s complete bullshit and irresponsible as hell to bring into the equation. When you accuse someone, that label stays with you regardless of truth. Wrong for @cutondime25 to go there, don’t bring it into the equation. Didn’t they replace McCoy with DeMarco Murray? I’ve known and trained with Murray since college and I’m pretty sure, actually I’m positive, he’s black. Lecture over. Unless you’re sure about something like that don’t publicly label someone as it. You’re guilty no matter what and it’s wrong."

Three things really stand out about Professor Glazer’s “lecture” and the situation as a whole:

  1. Jay Glazer is right. Of course he’s right. Accusing someone of being a racist without any sort of evidence – except for a conspiracy inside your own mind – isn’t just laughably stupid, it is reckless. Fortunately, nobody is taking McCoy seriously. The only one who is calling Kelly racist is McCoy – and I guess Stephen A. Smith, and he refuted his comments not that long ago. And the general consensus is that McCoy is acting like a jilted lover. That doesn’t change the gravity of the accusation.
  2. Why bring this up now if you’re Glazer? Why decide that now is the time to talk about it after Jenkins made his comments? McCoy made his quote almost a full month ago. It feels like an attempt on the part of Glazer to cash in on some social issue brownie points after it has been brought back into the spotlight.
  3. To be fair to McCoy, why the hell keep Riley Cooper if you’re the Eagles?
