WWE Elimination Chamber Results: New Day defend Tag Team Championships (Video)
A look at the results from the first ever tag team Chamber Match at WWE Elimination Chamber 2015.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2015 gave the wrestling world a first, the tag team titles being involved in an actual Chamber match. The match featured the champions in The New Day defending against Cesaro and Tyson Kidd, The Ascension, Prime Time Players, Los Matadores, and the Lucha Dragons.
Prime Time Players were out first, followed by Los Matadores; the crowd was dead quiet for both entrances. El Torito entered the Chamber with Los Matadores and took a spot atop the tag team’s pod. Cesaro and Tyson Kidd were out next to a mild reaction, as were The New Day immediately after them. That left The Ascension to come out next to another quiet response while the Lucha Dragons came out to the biggest pop of the group.
The Ascension and the Lucha Dragons started things off in the ring with the other four teams locked in the Chamber pods. Lucha Dragons got going early with some quick, athletic moves, but The Ascenison’s power grounded Sin Cara and The New Day held Kalisto’s leg to keep him stagnant atop their pod.
Cesaro and Tyson Kidd were the first to exit their pod and immediately took control behind Cesaro’s immense power. A superplex off the pod to Kalisto highlighted his hot run in the match:
With no teams still eliminated, Los Matadores entered along with El Torito getting involved. Meanwhile, Kalisto had climbed the chamber to the top of the dome and then swung down to the top of a group in the middle of the ring:
El Torito then tried to follow Kalisto’s lead, but was caught and hurled at one member of Los Matadores by The Ascension. The Ascension then scored a pin over Los Matadores to eliminate the bullfighting team.
Next, The Ascension turned their sights on the Lucha Dragons, grounding them and eliminating their second team of the match with a pin on Sin Cara.
Prime Time Players came in hot and stopped The Ascension’s run quickly. Titus O’Neil dominated everyone in the ring and eliminated The Ascension with a pin on Konnor.
Prime Time Players and Cesaro and Kidd laid down the hammer on one another, including a top-rope powerbomb, gut-wrench suplex combo involving Darren Young, O’Neil and Cesaro.
The New Day then entered with all three members allowed to compete. They started hot, but the other four competitors teamed up to stop them. Kidd and Cesaro then got a hold of Xavier Woods and locked him in a pod to even the odds once again.
However, the Prime Time Players scored a cheap elimination with Darren Young catching Cesaro off guard and rolling him up for the pin.
Big E then let Woods out of the pod, giving them a 3-on-2 advantage in the Chamber. New Day dominated, but Darren Young caught a second win and left all three members of New Day down in the corner of the ring.
While that allowed Prime Time Players to take advantage over the Tag Team Champions for a bit, the numbers ultimately didn’t add up in their favor as they all three toppled Titus O’Neil and all three pinned O’Neil to retain their titles.
