Detroit Tigers pitcher David Price makes not one but two great defensive plays on balls hit back to the mound.

David Price, the Detroit Tigers starting pitcher, made some stellar defensive plays on the mound against the Los Angeles Angels.

I

n the 6th inning with 2-on, 2-out Johnny Giavotella came to the dish for the Angels. Giavotella would absolutely drill a ball that Price may have caught simply out of self defense.

Two batters later, now in the 7th inning, Mike Trout is at the dish. This comebacker to David Price wasn’t so much self defense as it was a truly great defensive play.

In both videos you clearly see David Price with large devilish grin on his face. I’m thinking he would be just fine if these were his last two web gems of the 2015 season.

Price was selected first overall in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. Price made his major league debut in September 2008. Price made his playoff debut the very next month pitching out of the bullpen. In 2009, Price became a full-time starter. In 2010, Price was named the American League starter in the All Star game. In 2012, Price won the Cy Young Award.

Other major accomplishments in Price’s career include three more All Star nominations. In 2012, Price led the American League in both wins and ERA. IN 2014, Price collected the most strikeouts in the MLB.

An accomplishment not achieved thus far in Mr. Price’s career – – a gold glove. Sunday night in Anaheim, Price submitted two defensive plays to try to enter the conversation.
