Solid Starting Options

@ Mariners. Michael Pineda. 8. player. 43. Pineda bounced back from a pair of bad outings with a strong effort in his last outing against the Royals.  He allowed just one run on six hits while striking out eight in 6.2 innings in that start earning the win to move to 6-2.  Tonight, Pineda takes on the team he originally broke into the Major Leagues with in Seattle, and I think he’ll put together a solid outing and further erase those two bumps in the road against Texas and Kansas City in mid-May.. New York Yankees

player. 127. Cash finally got some run support and picked up just his second win of the season in his last start improving to 2-7.  Much of his record isn’t his fault though as indicated by his solid 3.00 ERA and 1.27 WHIP.  In fact, he had eight quality starts in his ten outings despite not having the wins to show for it.  Tonight against the Mets, Cashner should be in a solid pitchers duel between him and Jacob deGrom resulting in good starts for both of them. . San Diego Padres. vs Mets. Andrew Cashner. 7

vs Brewers. Jaime Garcia. 6. player. 32. Garcia is still working his way back from injury, but his first two starts have been solid.  He has allowed a total of five earned runs in 13 innings while striking out eight and going 1-1. He faces Milwaukee today at home in his third start of the season.  He hasn’t faced the Brewers since 2013 when he went 2-0 against them with a 3.10 ERA. Still, I like the lefty to have a good shot to pick up a win today making him a solid option for tonight. . St. Louis Cardinals

@ Padres. Jacob deGrom. 5. player. 3. As the Mets head to Petco Park, deGrom will look to carry over his momentum from an outstanding May. In May he went 3-1 with a 2.16 ERA  and 40 strikeouts in 33.1 innings. Tonight’s matchup is a good one on paper, but there is one warning sign that keeps him out of the star options in the starting pitcher rankings for today.  He is 0-3 on the road with a 6.75 ERA in three starts this season.  He should be able to turn that around tonight, but it isn’t quite enough of a “lock” to get him into the top level.. New York Mets
