Carmelo hangs out with Pelé, wants to buy a soccer team?
By Ian Levy
Carmelo Anthony has a lot of free time right now since the Knicks are nowhere near capable of challenging for a playoff spot, let along a Finals appearance. Now, you might be wondering, what is Melo up to? Well, it turns out that even though he’s not making moves on the basketball court right now, he’s still making moves.
Today, Carmelo was down Cuba with legendary Brazilian soccer player, Pelé.
A friendly between the New York Cosmos and the Cuban National Team is the main reason for his visit, but the New York Daily News says that’s not the only reason he took a trip down south.
"But he’s not just there to watch. According to a source, Anthony is actively looking to get into the soccer business and has been in talks with the North American Soccer League for months and looking for an ownership role in a Puerto Rican club."

WHAT IS THIS GARBAGE? MELO SHOULD BE IN THE GYM. GET IN THE GYM AND WORK ON YOUR GAME, YOU BUM. YOU DON’T PLAY SOCCER. YOU PLAY BASKETBALL.

Carmleo’s both a businessman and a business, man, so this seems right up his alley. And the NASL functions as the AA soccer league in North America, so he’s not jumping right into the fire if he goes through with this move. Of course, he’ll likely just be a part-owner, but this is still pretty cool.
Get that money, Melo.
