Lil Wayne wanted to brawl with an official at a charity celebrity basketball game.

Lil Wayne was in St. Louis this weekend to be a coach at a celebrity basketball game with the aim of raising money for an anti-violence charity. That’s a nice gesture by the rapper. That’s also where the niceties of the situation for Wayne come to an abrupt halt.

Apparently Wayne was on the wrong end of some bad calls and he was unhappy about it. In fact, he was so unhappy that he tried to go after one of the referees:

Reports from the game say that Wayne was ready to trade blows with the official and tried to spit on the man in stripes. I’m not sure how abysmal the officiating was in the game, but that seems like more than slight overreaction on the part of Wayne.

The irony of all of this happening at a game to benefit an anti-violence charity is something that shouldn’t be lost.

Instigating a fight isn’t something you should try and do at any basketball game you’re involved in. However, you should probably be especially careful about not doing so when the whole reason you’re there is to promote peaceful solutions to conflict.
