We almost saw the Sting debut in WWE a lot sooner than we all thought we would

This year professional wrestling fans all saw something that they never thought that they would see, and that’s Sting in a WWE ring wrestling a match. For the first time in his legendary career, Sting battled on the biggest stage of them all when he took on Triple H.

However, now we’re finding out that something of this nature could have happened a lot sooner than we all thought.

According to a new book that’s set to be released soon, The Attitude EraSting almost joined up with WWE not longer after the sale of WCW went through. In 2003, Sting was negotiating to come in and have a feud with none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin.

"“I had been negotiating with Vince [McMahon], and one of the ideas was for me to debut at the end of WrestleMania XIX and confront ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. Negotiations fell apart and it never happened, but it makes you wonder, ‘What if?’ That was one of the times I was talking with Vince, and it would’ve been an incredible night that would’ve translated into some major, major rivalries and match-ups for years to come.”"

Now, as wrestling fans, we can all agree that this is something good that we all missed out on tremendously. At the time, Sting was still in pretty great shape and Austin could go in the ring still, despite him being at the tail end of his career. As we know, Sting would go on to join TNA, which never really did him any favors.

There are a lot of dream matches that we’d like to see on a WWE stage, and apparently, this was one of them that we just missed out on.
