Golden State Warriors are gouging concession stand prices for NBA Finals
By Josh Hill
The NBA Finals are underway, and the price gouging at concession stands is on like never before.
When the NBA Finals comes to your city, it’s an event that the world is watching — not just you. For Cavaliers and Warriors fans, having the rest of the world watch your team is a foreign concept, as both franchises have been so bad for so long.
But thanks to the return of LeBron James and the meteoric rise of Steph Curry, all of a sudden Cleveland and Golden State are the two hottest teams in the NBA. This not only makes for an exciting NBA Finals showdown but also affords concession stand owners to gouge prices on food that is already overpriced to begin with.
As one fan pointed out on Reddit, the prices for food at the NBA Finals are completely and totally reasonable — which isn’t actually that far off of a statement.
Look, paying as much for a hot dog as it costs to buy roughly seven packs of hot dogs at the store is ridiculous, but you have to know that this is going to happen at the NBA Finals. First off, the event itself is a price gouge, so if you can afford to get in the door then you can probably afford a $25 hot dog combo.
There’s also the fact that concession stand prices are gouged to begin with. You can go to Target and buy two packs of Oscar Myers hot dogs for the price you pay for a single dog and drink combo at a regular season game. Spiking the prices for the most coveted games of the season is really a no-brainer if you’re the Warriors.
To be fair, a majority of the price is probably paying for the beer included in the combo — but still.
It’s a ridiculous figure, but there’s nothing on the ticket that says you have to buy a $25hot dog, that’s your mistake to make on your own.
