After receiving years of criticism from Colin Cowherd for performing the Dougie dance in his first-ever home game with the Washington Wizards, John Wall has his former coach on his side.
Cowherd, an ESPN radio personality, isn’t afraid to speak his mind when it comes to what he likes and dislikes about certain topics in sports. One thing in particular that has really gotten to him was the fact that Wall did the Dougie for about 30 seconds prior to his first home game as a rookie many moons ago. The act, in Cowherd’s eyes, perfectly showed Wall’s immaturity.
During a recent call-in to Cowherd’s show, Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari began a conversation regarding his former point guard. He started off with, “You gotta stop on John Wall. You’re out of your mind.”
Just listen to the radio gold here:
Wall’s immaturity has been called into question by many members of the media in recent years, but Calipari knows that his former star is a good person.
Cowherd has blasted Wall for some time now, but he does admit that the 24-year-old is one of the best point guards in the league. It’s hard to argue, seeing as Wall averaged 17.6 points and 10.0 assists per game in 2014-15.
The Wizards’ star has helped guide Washington from NBA cellar to the playoffs in just a couple of short years. As his success has grown, so has Cowherd’s reasons for criticizing, and Coach Cal checked him on it.
Numbers speak for themselves.
