Matthew Dellavedova missed the Cavaliers team bus back to the hotel after their Game 1 loss and had to find his own way home.

There are times in our lives that we are immensely thankful that Uber exists. On the surface, it’s just a classier way of taking a taxi except you’re literally getting into a person’s car that you do not know. At times in our lives though, using this service makes more than enough sense, like when you have groceries you can’t carry, it’s too cold outside or if you miss your team bus after Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Wait, what?

The latter of those situations happened to Cleveland Cavaliers new starting point guard Matthew Dellavedova on Thursday night in Oakland.

According to reports, Matthew Dellavedova missed the team bus after Game 1 and had to take an Uber back to the team’s hotel.

This isn’t the best way to begin your tenure as the new point guard of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dell has started before in Cleveland and he’s even started in the postseason. But the stakes are so much higher at this point in time and the cloud of Kyrie Irving not coming back is hanging over the Cavaliers in a bad way.

Dellavedova already has a reputation in the NBA as being dirty — which is ludicrous but exists anyways. That’s a reputation that we’ll hear plenty about as the NBA Finals press on, and it’s something that Delly can use in his favor. He’s not at all a dirty player, but the Cavaliers need to rely on Delly for production and energy while he’s on the court.

So far, in series against the Bulls and Hawks, Dellavedova has provided both. He may be considered reckless, but he’s a guy the Cavaliers have faith in and need to deal on more than ever before.

Let’s just hope he remembers to get on the bus for Game 2.
