The New York Yankees won their sixth game in a row on Sunday, but CC Sabathia and Joe Girardi weren’t around to see the end

2015 has not been the best year so far in the career of New York Yankees starter CC Sabathia, as he came into his start on Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels with just a 2-7 record and an ERA above five. However, he was able to put together quite the effective outing on Sunday, striking out seven batters in six innings to earn that third win of the season.

Here’s the thing, though: Six innings was all Sabathia would see in this one, and it wasn’t because manager Joe Girardi pulled him. Nope, as a matter of fact, six innings would be all Girardi would see of this one as well.

After the top of the sixth inning, Sabathia started arguing with the home plate umpire and he was quickly tossed from the game. From that point, Girardi would come out from the dugout to argue in his defense and, what do you know, he got the boot, too.

That was the first time in nine seasons that Sabathia has been shown an early exit from a game, so whatever set him off had to be something of significance.

Still, though, the Yankees came out of this with the 6-2 win, their sixth in a row, and being that they’re off on Monday, Sabathia and Girardi just got an early start to their little one-day vacation.
