Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has been taking steps to get his life in order this offseason. Manziel checked himself into an Ohio rehab treatment facility for 10 weeks earlier this spring, hopefully coming out a changed and healthier man. On Wednesday, news broke that Manziel is now living with his former high school football coach, Julius Scott, according to Pat McManamon of ESPN.com.

Manziel has been viewed by many as out of control away from the football field in recent years, something that living with Scott might reign in. Scott gave Manziel tough love during his days at Kerrville Tivy High School in Kerrville, Texas, and now has a chance to help mold the young man again. Per a story in the Houston Chronicle, Manziel said that winning the Heisman Trophy as a freshman at Texas A&M wasn’t emotional for him until he laid eyes on Scott.

"“When I saw him, I just lost it,” Manziel told the Chronicle. “I bawled my eyes out right there. I told him, ‘I would never have been here without you.'”"

For Manziel, let’s all hope this works out for the best. While the kid has clearly gone through some bad choices off the field, he seems to be making a genuine attempt to turn his life around for the better. Considering he is 22 years old, there is plenty of time for maturity to kick in.

Cornerback Joe Haden, and one of Manziel’s closest friends on the Browns, is happy with the way Manziel has been conducting himself recently.

"“He’s doing all the right steps,” said Haden."

Last year, Manziel only started two games as a rookie and generally looked lost against the Carolina Panthers and Cincinnati Bengals. Both games resulted in a loss, as Manziel completed a combined 18-of-35 passes for 175 yards and zero touchdowns with two interceptions.
