LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are finally providing some hope for the title-starved city, as reflected by this Nike advertisement.

Entering the NBA Finals, it looked like the city of Cleveland would indeed again have to wait until next year.

With Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving lost for the season during the playoffs due to injury, the Cavaliers were down two of their three best players. Going up against the 67-win Golden State Warriors, there didn’t appear to be much hope for Cleveland to win the title.

Not so fast. Behind three monster performances from LeBron James, the Cavaliers were able to take Game 1 into overtime before winning the next two contests, their first two Finals wins in franchise history.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer sports section paid homage to James on Tuesday, with his picture on the front and a Nike advertisement with a message of hope on the back, via Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today.

With how James is playing at the moment, there’s reason to believe in that message. In the first three games of the series, James is averaging 41 points, 12 rebounds and 8.3 assists.

Not to be forgotten is the contribution of Matthew Dellavedova, who has played strong defense against MVP Stephen Curry and poured in 20 points in Game 3. But James is carrying a team towards a title with a very depleted supporting cast.

The Warriors could start to roll at any moment, but Cleveland has a reason to have some hope.
