Recap and highlights of Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Blackhawks and Lightning in Chicago.

Game 4 reached a fever pitch before the puck had even dropped, with news that Ben Bishop was sitting out due to injury. In turn, Tampa Bay was forced to turn to 20-year-old goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, starting in the first playoff game of his career.

Let’s take a look at all the action.

The early going for Vasilevskiy was a mixed bag of stoning the Blackhawks …

… and Chicago simply failing to capitalize when opportunities presented themselves.

After one period of play the game was tied at zero.

The Blackhawks were finally able to get on the board when Jonathan Toews found the back on the net early in the second. It was Toews’ first goal since scoring two in Game 7 against Anaheim.

The net cam appeared to show that the puck went in after ricocheting off Vasilevskiy’s right skate.

In what has been the case thus far in the series, Tampa Bay struck back later in the period with an equalizer goal from Alex Killorn. Corey Crawford was completely turned around on the play and Killorn waved it right past the goalie’s shoulder.

No team has led by more than a goal in the series, a trend that would hold up throughout this contest. Heading into the final period of play, the score was knotted, 1-1.

Things stayed close until Brandon Saad showed some fancy footwork in kicking himself the puck and banging home a go-ahead through the 5-hole late in the 3rd.

Saad’s finisher was enough to put Tampa away. Despite a flurry of shots on goal at the end, the Lightning just couldn’t find the net.

With that, the series is now tied at two games apiece. For the second consecutive series, Chicago has rallied back from 1-2 on its home ice to equal things up. Game 5 will be played in Chicago on Saturday, with the puck dropping at 8 p.m. ET. The main storyline heading into it will undoubtedly be if Bishop can heal up enough to take the ice again this series.
