Cowboys’ Dez Bryant confirms he’ll sit Week 1 if no deal is done
By Jack Crosby
It’s not a rumor, Dez Bryant is serious about sitting Week 1 for the Cowboys if he doesn’t get a long-term deal in place
On Friday word came from ESPN’s Chris Mortensen that Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant would sit out Week 1 for the team if he doesn’t get a new long-term deal. However, there was no confirmation on this form Bryant himself.
Well, now there is.
The star wide receiver has confirmed to Mike Silver that if the Cowboys and he don’t come to an agreement by the time the July 15 deadline hits, then he will indeed not suit up for the team when the 2015 NFL regular season begins.
While the report from earlier today was just that, a report, we all know how headstrong and somewhat stubborn Bryant can be at times, so no one was really doubting that he was threatening to sit if he doesn’t get a new deal in place.
Over the course of the next month, this will be one of the more interesting stories to watch play out as we get set for the new NFL season. We’re going to find out how much the Cowboys value a wide receiver that caught 88 balls last season for over 1,300 yards. He’s had his minor issues in the past, yes, but there’s absolutely no denying that he can make a claim as the best at his position in the game today.
Now the only question is: Will that man be catching balls from Tony Romo when the Cowboys take on the New York Giants Sept. 13? That ball appears to strictly be in the court of the organization now.
