Welcome to the Summer Hoops Heat Index
By Ian Levy
We here at The Friendly Bounce very much enjoy both basketball and emojis, which is why our morning highlight roundup post for the NBA is called the BAE (Basketball and Emojis) Index. Now that the WNBA season is in full swing, we wanted to give them their very own morning highlight post.
Which is why we’ve created the Summer Hoops Heat Index.
#SummerHoops is the hashtag the WNBA has chosen as their main slogan this season, and so we’re going to incorporate it into our post for #brand synergy. The post will be similar to the BAE Index, but instead of choosing an emoji we think best represents the play, in the Summer Hoops Heat Index, we’ll rank the impressive plays from the previous night on a five-sun-emoji scale.
Today we are honored to bring you the very first edition of the Summer Hoops Heat Index. Let’s get into it.
Monique Currie turnaround jumper
Woooooo, the spin and fade on this jumper were nice enough on their own, but factor in the game situation, and you’ve got yourself one of the plays of the night. Been Monique Currie with the shot.
Kara Lawson’s full-court dish
Kara Lawson is nice on the mic when she’s calling games, but don’t forget that she’s nice on the court as well. This pass was a thing of beauty.
Tamika Catchings with the steal and score
The Indiana Fever got their first win last night, and it was largely thanks to Tamika Catchings, who dropped 27 points and 13 rebounds. Oh, and she had a steal as well.
Angel McCoughtry’s cold-blooded triple
ONIONS.
