Glendale mayor agrees to be tased by Coyotes fan for charity (Video)
Glendale mayor Jerry Weiers agreed to be tased by a Arizona Coyotes fan in order to raise money for first responders.
During Wednesday’s City Counsel meeting, the City of Glendale terminated their contract with the National Hockey League’s Arizona Coyotes, possibly forcing them out of a home.
This has understandably caused some tension between Glendale mayor Jerry Weiers and fans of the Coyotes. One lucky fan got to experience some catharsis when they tased the mayor in the back.
From Sports Illustrated:
"Weiers had previously agreed to be tased at the event if he was able to raise $10,000 for the 100 Club of Arizona, which raises money for first responders. The donors were not revealed by Glendale, but a crowdfunding effort had been organized by Coyotes fans. One fan told 12News that although many donors helped reach the $10,000 goal, one donated “several thousand” dollars at the end of the fundraising."
There are many things that someone can do for charity that are less violent that getting tased. They can be:
- hugged for charity
- kissed for charity
- tickled for charity
- not tased for charity
- inspired to give money to charity for charity
No, instead Weiers decided that the most effective method to inspire others to give would be to have two electrodes shot into his back like darts, delivering electric currents to his muscles, forcing him to collapse and spasm. Listen, guys, it’s for a good cause.
Fortunately, Weiers is going to be okay. The woman doing the tasing, Ronda Pearson, enjoyed a slice of fame from her anti-Weiers rant regarding the end of the lease agreement.
The issue with the lease has not been fully resolved, but Pearson got her revenge on Weiers. And that is all that matters.
