The NBA Finals is now a best of three series, and the Cavaliers vs. Warriors showdown has reached a pinnacle.

After five games in the NBA Finals, we finally have some direction as far as who might end up hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy when all is said and done. The winner of Game 5 will likely end up winning the NBA Finals — and that would be the Golden State Warriors. Despite taking an early 2-1 series lead, the Warriors have hit their stride over the last two games and pounded the Cavaliers to dust in back-to-back games.

Things now head back to Cleveland with the Warriors up 3-2 in the series and just 48 minutes away from their first of what might be many NBA title with Steph Curry and company.

Cleveland wasn’t always out of it, as they started strong and managed to stay in it for most of the contest. But the Warriors have made it this far by going on devastating runs, and Cleveland was subjected to a barrage of runs in Game 5.

LeBron James picked up yet another triple-double in his postseason career and it helped spark the Cavaliers in the fourth quarter to pull back within striking distance of the Warriors.

Before his triple-double was complete, LeBron James was on fire and helping to keep the Cavaliers in the game when they otherwise might have been swallowed up by the Warriors onslaught.

Late in the game, Steph Curry had decided that Matthew Dellavedova was done clowning around and put the Australian in his place.

It was a three so nasty that it almost needs to be censored from all angles.

The best part about the destruction of

Really, the game didn’t actually become a true NBA Finals game until the last stretch of the fourth quarter. With the Warriors leading but the Cavaliers hot on their tails, Andre Iguodala decided to step up like he did in Game 4 and start to close out the Cavaliers in front of an absolutely electric crowd.

The celebration might have been uncanny, but the truly insane thing about Game 5 was the play of Steph Curry. You have to consider how much he was getting steam rolled for his performance against Matthew Dellavedova all series long. His MVP status was routinely called into question, and he answered that with an astounding performance in Game 5.

Now the Warriors head back to Cleveland up 3-2 in the series and just 48 minutes from their first NBA title in over 40 years. That’s massive and the chances that this series comes back to Oakland are dwindling — and it has nothing to do with the Warriors losing.
