U.S. Open: Schedule of events throughout the week

Schedule of events for the 115th U.S. Open from Chambers Bay Golf Course.


Golf’s second major of the year, the U.S. Open Championship will take place from June 18-21 at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Washington. Despite being the 115th Open, this year’s event is an historic one, as it’s the first time the tournament has been held in the Pacific Northwest. Moreover, it’s one of the rare public courses to host a U.S. Open.

Though the tournament doesn’t officially tee off until Thursday, there are a host of activities earlier in the week. Below is a look at the schedule of events, on the course, in the run up to the 2015 U.S. Open.

Practice Rounds (June 15-17)

Fans hoping to see players in action before the event starts can catch them playing practice rounds on Monday through Friday. According to the PGA’s press release, players are usually on the course from 7 a.m. PT to around 3 p.m., but could be out as late as 7 p.m.

  • Monday, June 15 (Gates: 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • Tuesday, June 16 (Gates: 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • Wednesday, June 17 (Gates: 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

U.S. Open Rounds 1 and 2 (June 18-19)

The first two rounds will tee off at 7 a.m. PT (10 a.m. ET), with the final group teeing off at 3:12 p.m. (6:12 p.m. ET). Final groups will start on both the 1st and 10th holes.

  • Thursday, June 18 (Gates: 6 a.m. to end of play)
  • Friday, June 19 (Gates: 6 a.m. to end of play)

U.S. Open Rounds 3 and 4 (June 20-21)

According to the PGA press release, tee times for the final two rounds are determined on the amount of players to make the cut. However, the PGA plans to have players begin teeing off between 8 and 9 a.m. PT (11-12 ET), and 3 p.m. PT (6 ET). In other words, the top pairing with the lowest round will tee off around 6 p.m. ET.

  • Saturday, June 20 (Gates: 6 a.m. to end of play)
  • Sunday, June 21 (Gates: 6 a.m. to end of play)

Playoff

In the event of a tie after the final hole of the fourth round, the U.S. Open will hold an 18-hole playoff on the following day (Monday) with players teeing off around 9 a.m. PT (12 p.m. ET)
