Tristan Thompson put the Cleveland Cavaliers in great position at the half with an emphatic putback jam.

The Cleveland Cavaliers made a run at the end of the first half of game 6 to try and erase the Golden State Warriors’ lead. The Warriors were up by 13 at the end of the first quarter, but the Cavs chipped away at the lead throughout the second period to get them within four points.

In the final seconds of the first half, LeBron James tried to close the lead with a running floater from the left side.

His attempt was off, but forward Tristan Thompson made a fantastic play on the ball and finished the missed LeBron attempt in emphatic fashion:

He certainly didn’t hold anything back on that putback as he put the Cavaliers just one bucket away from the Warriors going into halftime.

Thompson’s putback dunk was undoubtedly his biggest moment of the first half, but it also topped off a half in which he was a huge contributor. The forward finished the first half with 11 points and seven rebounds. If the Cavs are going to force a game seven, they are going to need Thompson to continue performing at that level.
