Despite the sticky situation they’re in at the moment, Jerry Jones believes that Dez Bryant will start the year for the Cowboys

Right now one of the more intriguing stories happening in the NFL is the possibility of a Dez Bryant holdout. Last week Bryant made his intentions pretty clear that if he can’t get the long-term deal from the Dallas Cowboys that he ultimately wants, then he does not plan on being on the field Week 1 when the team takes on the New York Giants.

Well, even though it doesn’t appear as if the Cowboys are going to budge from their stance, Jerry Jones might believe that Bryant is bluffing about the whole ordeal.

“I have no doubt that he’ll be leading the way against the Giants,” Jones said via the Dallas Morning News. “We just know how competitive Dez is and how much he wants to beat the Giants and how much he wants to support his teammates.”

Now, of course, this could just be Jones being politically correct in front of the media, but it could very well also indicate that he doesn’t believe a word that’s coming out of Bryant’s mouth as of late.

The Cowboys placed the franchise tag on Bryant this off-season and he’s scheduled to make $13 million this upcoming season. However, according to him, it’s not about the money, rather it’s the security he’s looking for in all of this.

These two sides have until July 15 to come to terms on a long-term agreement, so we’ll start to find out soon enough whether or not Bryant is playing the bluff card in this scenario.
