Floyd Mayweather challenges Oscar De La Hoya to fight in September (Video)

Floyd Mayweather threw out a bit of a challenge recently to Oscar De La Hoya to be his opponent in September
When Floyd Mayweather announced following his win over Manny Pacquiao in May that he indeed would be fighting again this September, everyone was throwing out their opinions as to who the opponent should be. Names like Amir Khan and Gennady Golovkin were among the most popular, but Floyd may already have the opponent in mind.
And he might be looking for a rematch with someone he’s already beaten.
With Oscar De La Hoya recently talking about a potential comeback to the ring, Mayweather seems to have no issue with getting in the ring with him one more time come September.
These two fought one another back on May 5 in 2007, a fight that was one via decision by Mayweather. However, if there is one thing that sticks out from that bout it’s the fact that De La Hoya did do a pretty good job in the early rounds against the undefeated superstar, nailing with some flurries from time to time. Ultimately, though, Mayweather played his normal chess game and walked away with the win.
While the name recognition is there for a potential rematch, it’s pretty safe to say that no one wants to see this actually happen. It’s more than a safe bet that Mayweather would defeat Oscar in decisive fashion, especially considering how long De La Hoya has been out of the ring being a promoter.
With Mayweather’s career winding down here, people are only going to buy into a fight where it seems there’s the slightest chance Floyd could eat the first loss of his career. This fight does not fit that billing.
