Dee Gordon had a pretty embarrassing moment on Wednesday night when he forget how many strikes were on him

The Miami Marlins are taking on the New York Yankees inside Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, and in the top of the first inning, Dee Gordon had one of the more embarrassing moments of his career.

Gordon was at the plate facing Yankees starter Michael Pineda, when his mind must have wandered off somewhere. We say this because he clearly forgot how many strikes he had on him. With two strikes on the count, Gordon pulled the bat back and just watched strike three sail past him, clearly thinking that he only had one strike on him at that point.

There really is no other explanation other than he just forgot the count at that point. In his mind he had a strike to spare in the at-bat, but in reality, strike three was headed right down the pipeline there.

The funny part is, though, he walks right away after the ump calls the third strike. You would think he’d stand there for a second or two until the light bulb goes off, making seem as if he almost got struck out on purpose.

That’s probably not the case here, but this is funny no matter what happened with Gordon there.
