1. It’s either keep LeBron or keep Blatt

If you’re an NBA franchise owner and you have LeBron James on your team, you do everything in your power to keep him happy. Gilbert has one job as the owner and it’s to win the NBA title — well, that and make sure LeBron decides to finish his career with the Cavaliers.

The reality of this unsettling situation is that Gilbert has to decide to keep David Blatt or LeBron James. If you keep Blatt, LeBron is not going to want to stay with the organization whether it’s for just one more year under the unproven head coach or maybe he even decides to walk this summer after opting out of his contract.

Why is King James right for pushing away Blatt? It may not be exactly the right thing to do as a person, but he knows it’s best for the team and he also knows that the front office will listen to what he has to say.

Long story short, James’ word is taken into consideration while Blatt’s is indispensable. Not one person close to the Cavaliers would pick to keep Blatt on board with the chance of James choosing to play somewhere else for a team that is willing to listen to his concerns.

LeBron knows he will get his way and if this is the route to go about it, then so be it. He has earned his keep in this league while Blatt is just a rookie.
