The Cardinals are looking to maintain their hold on the top spot in our MLB Power Rankings while other teams are streaking toward the top.

What a strange week in baseball. We’ve seen a little league home run, multiple position players pitching, and even had to bear through reports of another team purportedly hacking into a computer system of another organization.

And that is where things get truly weird. The hacking of the Houston Astros database has moved past the offices of Rob Manfred, Major League Baseball’s commissioner, and into the hands of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. With members of the St. Louis Cardinals front office under investigation, a lot of questions have been raised as to how this organization truly does business or if this was just a matter of someone being extremely stupid.

The actions have left a black eye on the St. Louis Cardinals organization and if the Cardinals way is really the purest way in the game. The commissioner will be going through the findings with a fine-tooth comb and undoubtedly will come down on the Cardinals swiftly. It will be a test that no other commissioner in sports has had to face to date, and will be watched closely by all.

Until then though, we play the game on the field and not in a computer system. As such, we have some MLB Power Rankings to review.
