The San Diego Padres made some huge offseason moves by trading for Matt Kemp and signing James Shields in hopes of taking over the National League West. The Padres are underproducing big time, as they are three games under .500. The Padres also just fired their manager Bud Black because of the lack of wins in the win column. To make things worse, the Padres now have an injury to one of their starting outfielders that will sideline him for a couple months.

Wil Myers is set to have surgery on his wrist to remove a bone spur. This surgery is going to set his season back at least two months, which could hinder the Padres offensive production. Myers has already missed 28 games this season with injuries.

The Padres offense is currently ranked 9th in the majors in team batting average. Myers is currently batting .277, which is third on the team, with five home runs and 19 RBI. The Padres have struggled recently, though, as they are 21st in team batting average in the past seven days.

Interim manager Pat Murphy has stated that Will Venable will be replacing Myers in the outfield. Venable is currently batting .265 with 5 home runs and 18 RBI. Those numbers are almost identical to those of Myers, so this injury might actually help the Padres get some offense going. But that is all yet to be seen.

For those of you who have Myers on you fantasy team, don’t fret because you have plenty of options out there to replace him. One of those options being Venable. Myers is currently underproducing, so I think that this injury will actually help out your fantasy team because you don’t have to worry about who to start between Myers and another player.

I honestly think that you could find a better replacement for Myers in any leagues waiver wire. You just have to do some digging to find that diamond in the rough, which is what we are here for. If you have any question regarding who you need to add to or drop from your team, tweet us and ask.
