The New York Yankees are taking on the Detroit Tigers on Friday night, with ace pitcher Justin Verlander on the mound. That didn’t stop Rodriguez from collecting hit No. 3,000, with a home run to boot.
Watch it below:
Getting you’re 3,000th hit with a home run is impressive, it makes 667 for Alex Rodriguez in his career. Yankees fans will also remember that Derek Jeter also hit a home run for his 3,000th hit as well.
While Rodriguez is just the 29th member of the 3,000 hit club, he is part of an even more elite group. Besides himself and Jeter, only one other player in history collected their 3,000th hit with a home run.
Rodriguez is in another equally elite club. Only three players have hit 600 home runs in addition to 3,000 hits. Rodriguez joins Hank Aaron and Willie Mays on that shortlist.
It appears the Yankees celebrated and acknowledged this milestone.
